Toucan support

Toucan is an iPad app that rehearses standardized tests with children who find tests hard. It is an original practice tool: every question in it was written for the app.

Toucan is not affiliated with Renaissance, NWEA, Curriculum Associates or any state department of education, and a module's name says only what its content prepares for. Toucan is practice, not a curriculum or tutoring. It does not replace anything a child does at school, and it does not raise or predict a score.

Common questions

Where is my child's data?

On your iPad only, in the app's own folder, and excluded from backups. Nothing is sent anywhere. See the privacy policy.

How do I reach the grown-up panel?

Tap Grown-ups in the top corner and answer the multiplication question. The panel shows practice history and settings, and it is where children are added and modules are assigned.

A module I bought is not showing.

Open the grown-up panel, then Modules, then Restore purchases. Purchases come back through your Apple ID; nothing else about the app is stored off the iPad.

My child's history disappeared after a restore or a new iPad.

History is deliberately kept out of backups, so it does not survive a restore or a move to a new device. Purchases do.

The voice sounds different on some questions.

A module whose recordings are not finished yet uses the iPad's built-in voice for those lines. Every line is one voice or the other, never half and half.
